The International Centre for Drug Policy
The International Centre for Drug Policy (ICDP) - based at St George’s, University of London - has a national and international reputation for its activities.
The centre's director is Professor Hamid Ghodse, who is a world leader in international drug policy and addictions, President of the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB), chair of the Board of International Affairs of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and inaugural chair of the International Health Advisory Board.
Launched in November 2004, the centre has developed an increasing focus on relationships with international organisations - including the World Health Organisation, the European Union and the United Nations Drug Control Programme - to advise, develop and deliver high quality multi-professional education programmes in the prevention and management of tobacco, alcohol and drug misuse.
The International Centre for Drug Policy participates in a number of activities, both national and international, relating to treatment and prevention of tobacco, alcohol and drugs, including:
- education and training
- research and development
- policy development
- consultancy and advice.
We are a centre of excellence in the field of substance misuse. In particular we support and assist in the development of effective drug policy, and initiatives in the areas of treatment and prevention, education and training, research and development, and consultancy, both nationally and internationally.
