Research funding
Research at St George’s, University of London attracts funding from major research bodies around the world including the Medical Research Council (MRC), the European Union (EU), the Wellcome Trust, the Department of Health (DoH) the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR), Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the British Heart Foundation (BHF) and the National Institutes of Health USA (NIH) among others.
St George's attracted £19.7 million in external grants and contracts income in 2009/10.
The six research centres and The Faculty of Health and Social Care Sciences generate circa 120 external grant or contract awards per annum.
The Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) recurrent funding totalled £6.7m in 2009/2010.
