Infection and Immunity

At the intersection of host, microbe and immunity

Infection and Immunity

Heads of Centre: Professor Julian Ma and Professor Tom Harrison

Research in Infection and Immunity aims to discover new knowledge and treatments for some of the world’s most devastating infectious diseases and pathogens including HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, Staphylococcus aureus and Clostridium difficile.

Research is focused on the following themes:

Microbe:

Immunity:

Human:

A major strength of the Centre lies in its integration genomics and translational research. The Centre works collaboratively with colleagues from within St George’s Healthcare NHS Trust, on a number of infection and immunological research interests.

This clinical-research synergy underpins the Centre’s strength in addressing infectious diseases at the molecular level through to phase III clinical trials.
