The Institute of Cardiovascular and Cell Sciences concentrates on the prevention and treatment of conditions linked to circulatory system, heart, nervous system and inherited genetic disorders.
The institute is led by Professor Dorothy Bennett.
We aim to bring together clinical and basic science researchers to develop new diagnostic and therapeutic solutions, whilst learning more about the biological processes involved in human disease.
Research at the Institute of Cardiovascular and Cell Sciences is focused on:
- cardiovascular research, especially cardiac and vascular sudden death
- ageing and its associated diseases
- neurology and neurosurgery
- genomics, including molecular and genetic mechanisms of disease and therapy
