Professor Juan-Carlos Kaski is a Professor of Cardiovascular Science.
His main areas of research interest include therosclerosis (inflammatory and immunological mechanisms), mechanisms of rapid coronary artery disease progression, biomarkers of cardiovascular risk, microvascular angina and coronary artery spasm.
He provides consultancy in the following areas:
- Biomarkers of cardiovascular risk
- Angina pectoris
- Member of several advisory boards on pharmacotherapy and management of angina
- Advising several universities and funding bodies worldwide
Professor Kaski is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, the American College of Cardiology, the European Society of Cardiology, the American Heart Association and many other scientific societies. He is a member of the editorial board of several scientific journals including the European Journal of Cardiology and the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, and associate editor of Cardiovascular Drugs and Therapy.
He has received numerous scientific awards, including the Gold Medal of the Spanish Society of Cardiology, Scientiae Magistri (Rome), RAICES award (Argentina) and Fukushima University award (Japan), for his contribution to cardiovascular research and teaching.
Professor Kaski is the immediate past President and Chair of the Executive Board of the International Society of Pharmacotherapy, an affiliate member of the World Heart Federation.
Professor Kaski has written over 400 scientific papers in peer-review journals, over 200 invited papers, more than 130 book chapters and has edited six books on cardiovascular topics.
