Biomedical Science MRes

This is a one-year full-time course which is appropriate both for those wanting a stand-alone master’s course with a strong emphasis on biomedical research and for those who want a year of postgraduate research training before proceeding to a PhD in the biomedical field. Some combinations of modules and projects would also be appropriate for those from a medical or health care professional background who want to gain research experience for professional development or prior to applying for a research degree.

Assessment: Assessments for the taught modules are designed to help students with preparation of the dissertation element of the research project and will enable students to develop scientific presentation skills.


Course objectives

Specific aims are to:

  • provide training in the key generic skills required to be a scientific researcher through successful completion of the core modules;
  • provide training and experience in the practical skills required to be a scientific researcher through the successful completion of the project module;
  • provide practice in communicating the results of research both in oral presentations and in writing.
