In the World University Rankings 2014-2015, St George’s has been placed at 196th globally. Last year the University was placed in the 201- 225 bracket without an individual placing. It focuses on truly global institutions with both influence in leading research and outstanding teaching.

It is the 11th time the Times Higher Education’s annual rankings have been published. It focuses on truly global institutions with both influence in leading research and outstanding teaching.

Professor Peter Kopelman, our Principal, said: “This is excellent news for St George’s, its staff and its students.

“It is no mean feat for a smaller, specialist, university to be ranked in the top 200 World Universities and it confirms the standing that we have established in the global community. This is an achievement that we should promote with pride.”

The World University Rankings are the only global university performance tables to judge world-class universities across all of their core missions: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.

Phil Baty, the editor of the Times Higher Education rankings, said: “Rising, for the first time, into the prestigious top 200 list of universities worldwide is a real achievement for St George’s University London.

“This accomplishment is perhaps made more impressive by the fact that St George’s University London has risen further up the table this year against a backdrop of falls for many of the UK’s universities, and against mounting competition from rising stars in East Asia which have been enjoying strong financial support.”

The authors of the ranking use 13 areas of data to make balanced comparisons available, which are trusted by governments, industry, university leaders and academics, as well as by prospective students and their families.
