ATAS (Academic Technology Approval Scheme) certificates
Certain subjects studied at Postgraduate level require you to have an ATAS certificate, which you must obtain before you apply for your visa. If this applies to your course, we will let you know; this information will also be included on your CAS statement.
Please note that it can take up to six weeks to obtain an ATAS certificate and you must have obtained your ATAS certificate before you can apply for your Tier 4 visa since you must submit a print-out of your ATAS certificate with your application; otherwise your application will be refused. Therefore you must allow enough time to obtain an ATAS certificate before you apply for your Tier 4 visa.
Applications for ATAS certificates must be made online via the Foreign & Commonwealth Office. More information about ATAS certificates, including which courses require one and how to apply for one can be found Foreign & Commonwealth Office ATAS page.
Please note that your ATAS certificate will be issued for your course at St. George’s and will only remain valid as long as your Tier 4 sponsor, (that is St George’s), and/or course details (including the length of your course), do not change.
