Then Neurodegeneration Unit is focused on research and teaching on the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease and Prion disease, British and Danish familial dementias and covering b-Amyloid, b-Secretase, Oligomer, and fibril desposition, cholesterol and statin actions. Techniques include proteomics, peptide synthesis, malditof, protease isolation, electron microscopy, confocal microscopy, antibody production, cross-linking and apoptosis detection in neuronal cell lines. Aims are to produce novel therapautic inhibitors. Statins are in clinical trials.
