- (*) indicates a line to which access may be restricted or conditional. These are lines obtained from another group, lines requiring an MTA (material transfer agreement) or unpublished lines. Where unpublished lines are provided, it is generally on a collaborative basis.

DMEL-2 and DMEL-3 are engineered to express temperature-sensitive SV40 large T antigen. DMEL-3 is unpigmented at the permissive and pigmented at the nonpermissive (higher) temperature, except at higher passage levels (see ref., Prince et al 2001). DMEL-2 is pigmented.

Ink4a-Arf double null
Listed with wild-type cells because all tested immortal melanocyte lines fail to express p16Ink4a anyway, and often Arf. These lines were initially called melan-Ink4a(x) but this was changed to avoid confusion with Ink4a-only null cells. Many of the color-mutant lines below are also from Ink4a-Arf null mice.
