Careers

This course prepares you to practice an exciting profession with excellent employment and career progression opportunities.

Our close partnerships with employers keep the course up-to-date with current developments. Our partners contribute to the design of the programme, plus its management and review.

You spend half of the programme in practice settings, which consist of two 100-day placements at levels two and three. During the semesters at these levels, you spend:

  • three days per week on placement;
  • one day per week attending University-based modules that are designed to support the practice learning; and
  • one day per week in private study time.

We have long-standing partnerships with a wide variety of practice settings in the statutory, voluntary and private sectors. Placements are available in field, residential, day care, hospital, prison and service user run settings. They cover all service user groups, including:

  • children and families;
  • people with disabilities;
  • people with learning disabilities;
  • older people;
  • people with mental health problems; and
  • people within criminal justice settings.

St George's offers careers information for all current students. Read more about the Careers Service.
