Message from course director
"The undergraduate programme for therapeutic radiography has been delivered by the Faculty of Health and Social Care Sciences since 1994, when radiotherapy education moved into higher education. This course is now very well established and our graduates are held in high regard by the cancer centres in the region.
"With 28 students annually, the course team is in an ideal position to support and develop you during this rigorous vocational course. Multi-professional education is a strong feature of the academic programme and you will benefit from learning alongside students on a range of other medical, health and social-care degrees. For radiotherapy studies, resources include a simulated linear accelerator (radiotherapy treatment machine) that enables links between theory and practice to be explored and will help you acquire and practise specific skills in a controlled environment.
"Practice education makes up 50 per cent of the course and you can learn at your own pace during a year-long clinical placement spanning the second and third years. Close links with the university are maintained during this time, with lecturers making regular and frequent visits to the radiotherapy departments to provide you with support and to maintain close working relationships with the supervising and assessing clinical staff."
