Course overview

This innovative course has been developed in partnership with local employers and service users, to develop the Associate/Assistant Practitioner workforce.

Assistant/Associate Practitioners have a required level of knowledge and skills beyond that of the traditional healthcare assistant or support worker and are able to deliver elements of health and social care and undertake clinical work in areas that have only been within the remit of registered professionals.

The programme will enable you to develop transferable core health care skills and knowledge, before specialising in your chosen field of

  • adult care;
  • maternity; or
  • peri-operative care.

The work-based learning structure combines learning ‘on the job’ with teaching in the classroom. Protected study time is built into the programme.
