Academic entry requirements
Applicants should normally have, or be expected to achieve, a first degree in a relevant professional area (or an equivalent overseas qualification).Recent Level 6 or 7 study will also be considered.
Non-standard entry
Qualified Health and Social Care practitioners (without first degrees) that can demonstrate evidence of either a contribution to the development of practice, or appropriate other study, are also encouraged to apply. Alternative qualifications may be considered and applicants holding these qualifications are encouraged to submit an application form. Candidates may be required to submit supplementary details (e.g. transcripts) and asked to complete a short qualifying essay.
English language requirements
Applicants will be expected to evidence English language ability. Exceptions to this requirement can be found on our English language web pages.
Applicants who do not meet these criteria will be expected to undertake an International English Language Test (IELTS) that assesses the four elements of reading, writing, speaking and listening. For Postgraduate study, applicants should achieve a minimum overall score of IELTS 6.5, with the remaining sub-test components at a score of no less than 6.0.
Test certificates should be dated within the last two years to be considered valid. Applicants will only be permitted to submit two test attempts undertaken within a 12 month period.

Candidates must supply valid professional registration.
Personal statement
Applicants will be required to outline their reasons for applying for the course in a brief personal statement on the application form.
References
Applicants will be expected to provide two satisfactory references to support their application. One of these must be a recent academic reference and the other should be EITHER a second academic reference or a professional/employer reference. Both references should be dated within the last year (from date of application).

Overseas Applications
If you are providing overseas qualifications, please ensure that you send certified copies of certificates, transcripts and grading schemes to support your application. These documents should be translated into English (if not already written in English) by a certified translator. They should also be accompanied by a UK NARIC certificate of comparability, as this will help us to determine the UK equivalence of your qualifications.
