What’s different about this course ?

Professional Studies in Community Care PgDip/MA

If you are interested in developing your skills in working with adults further, our Post Qualifying course in Community Care offers a range of possibilities:

  • a structured opportunity for you to further develop your competence in working with adults
  • it is mapped against the national post-qualifying award framework in social work, so that professional   practice awards are achieved in tandem with gaining academic credits
  • it will promote your skills in effective partnership with service users and carers and with other disciplines, professions and organisations
  • it offers you the opportunity to consolidate and enhance your academic and professional knowledge, and will ensure you are familiar with relevant adult care policy and legal requirements
  • you can learn about the transitions that adults undergo in their lives (for example, into or leaving residential care, adult safeguarding, domestic violence and abuse and even international social work policy and practice)
  • you can also become registered as a Practice Teacher and able to supervise social work students
  • if you don’t have a degree, we have a ‘top-up’ option available
  • if you do have a first degree, you can choose to take the leadership and management options if you wish.

Most modules have five days of teaching, usually held on Fridays, so this can fit around your work schedule.
