Duration: Part time: two years
Attendance: One day per week for first two semesters. Thereafter, individual arrangements will be made with your academic and work-based supervisor
Assessment: Five module-related assignments; work-based learning contract; dissertation/research project or 10,000-word reflective summary; viva exam

Course outline
This innovative programme is designed to meet the requirements of professional healthcare workers and mentors by the use of modules and work-based learning assignments applicable to any healthcare teaching setting. At the end of this course you will be able to:
- Lead and manage healthcare practice
- Implement research advances to enrich evidence-based practice
- Implement workplace learning
- Introduce teaching and learning strategies within clinical settings
- Competently research healthcare issues
- Prepare for the management of change
- Apply your learning to projects within the workplace
The course consists of taught modules, work-based learning projects and provides an opportunity to explore a topic of particular interest in some depth, along with reflecting on the complete learning experience.
Course structure
STAGE ONE - three taught modules and one work-based learning module.
- Health and Social Care in Context (15 credits)
- Managing Change in Practice (15 credits)
- Leadership in Practice(15 credits)
- Teaching and Learning (15 credits)

STAGE TWO - two taught modules and one work-based learning module.
- Evaluating Health and Social Care Outcomes (15 credits)
- Research Methods in Healthcare Practice (15 credits)
Candidates in consultation with their acadmeic supervisor and a work-based learning facilitator will select a work-based topic. This will be governed by the candidates' opportunities to apply the topic area in the workplace. Suggested topics are given below:
- Mentorship and Clinical Supervision
- Leadership and Collaboration in the Provision of Health and Social Care
- Health Promotion and Health Education

STAGE THREE - an academic paper (20 credits) and reflective summary + viva (40 credits) or an academic paper (20 credits) and dissertation (40 credits)
