Qualification: Master of Research in Clinical Practice
Duration: Full time over one year or part time over two years. Part-time attendance of two days a week: Monday and Thursday in year one. Much of year two is devoted to the completion of the research project module

Assessment: Research protocol, portfolio, oral and poster presentations, statistics examination, dissertation

Course overview
This master’s course will prepare you for leadership and management roles in clinical research by providing a focused programme of practical and academic study. The course is suitable for nurses, midwives and allied health professionals.
You will study the processes and principles associated with clinical practice research and develop a range of transferable and applied research skills that will enable you to plan, manage and independently undertake research.
You will learn to generate research questions, design and test data collection approaches and interpret results within a scientific framework.
You will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to take your first step for your future career in clinical research. You will learn how to promote and drive change in clinical practice, and prepare yourself for a career in leadership and management of clinical research.
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- undertake scientific research independently
- participate fully in the academic community through debate and discussion
- adopt an evidence based approach to practice
- present to clinical meetings and conferences
- publish your work in relevant clinical journals.
- effectively use a range of computer packages in order to successfully communicate acquired knowledge and the results of research, both written and orally and to a range of audiences
