Course outline

This course is suitable for any experienced, registered healthcare practitioner who wishes to advance their level of knowledge and skills within their own field. It will enable you to respond to new roles and ways of working in practice and lead the development of practice.

The course is an ideal way to enhance your career once you have gained experience in a healthcare role and would like to develop further within your own specialist area. You can take the Generic Route in which you choose the non-core modules you wish to study,  or alternatively choose from four specialist routes:

  • Advanced Practice - Psychosocial Interventions
  • Advanced Practice - Prescribing
  • Advanced Practice - Cancer
  • Advanced Practice - Cancer, Clinical Reasoning and Decision Making

The course also offers an opportunity to work towards professional competencies (e.g. NMC V300 Independent and Supplementary Prescribing for Nurses and Practice Teacher Stage 3). You will also undertake work-based learning projects.

You may also be able claim exemptions from certain parts of the course via our APCL system (Accreditation of Prior Certificated Learning).

A number of open evenings will be held during the year to provide information about the course and those interested are welcome to attend. Learn more about our open evenings.
