St George’s offers a wide range of opportunities for translational research, including laboratory-based investigations, clinical studies and health science evaluations.

We are a research-led institution specialising in medical, biological, health and social-care sciences. In the last Research Assessment Exercise (RAE2008) over 40% of our research was classified as internationally excellent or world-leading (3* and 4*).

We currently have around 150 MPhil/PhD students and 70 MD(Res) students studying both full-time and part-time.

In addition to subject-specific training, a wide-ranging core training course is undertaken by our research students in order to support the acquisition of generic research skills and providing opportunities for peer-group support.
