Entry requirements and documentation
In order to apply for a placement at St George’s the following must be submitted or achieved to proceed with your placement.
Entry requirements:
- Verified copy of current photographic identification and any relevant visa pages – a verification document will be circulated to you if you are successful in gaining a placement.
- A letter of recommendation from your medical school to verify that you are studying on a medicine programme. This letter should confirm that you are a current medical student, your year of study and the duration of your programme (start and end dates). We do not require a character reference.
- Submission of a home country police check (if applying from outside of the UK) and a UK CRB check. The UK CRB form will be sent to you if you are successful in securing a placement.
- Gain health clearance from our Occupational Health Service. The Health and GP questionnaires will be sent to you if you are successful in securing a placement.
- Evidence of your English Language proficiency using a SELT (Secure English Language Test) at CEFR C1 or equivalent. Read more about the St George's English language requirements.
A list of the UKBA's approved test providers, and how the various test scores equate to the Common European Framework for Reference for languages (CEFR) levels and how long each test is valid for can be found on the UKBA website.
We must comply with UKBA regulations and are therefore unable to offer any flexibility to applicants who do not meet the CEFR C1 standard of English language. In order to maximise your chances of securing a placement, we would advise that you have already completed (or booked) an English language test before submitting an enquiry.
It is also important to note your English language test certificate must have been issued within the last two years, to be considered valid. If your certificate was issued outside of this two year validity period, you must undertake another test in order to meet this entry requirement.
