The Analytical Unit is a research and service laboratory within Professor John Camm’s Division of Cardiac & Vascular Sciences. The laboratory is a member of the UK Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) compliance programme, and has also been inspected by the MHRA for compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
The Unit provides specialist analytical services for basic research studies, drug development and the diagnosis and treatment of disease. A variety of hyphenated chromatographic-mass spectrometric and immunoassay techniques are utilised to measure drug and endogenous compounds. Molecular biology techniques for genotyping and sequencing are available. We are also organisers of International Proficiency Testing schemes.

The Unit has a close relationship with the on-site Phase I Clinical Trials Unit – Richmond Pharmacology.
