St George’s Knowledge Update
What is it?
St George’s Knowledge Update is a new current awareness service from St George’s Library.
It collates updates from journals and health organisations and organises them by specialism/topic so that you can quickly find the information you need. You will also find links to ebooks , databases and Library services. St George’s Knowledge Update is freely available anywhere via the internet, access the welcome page here.
Finding your way around
The site is divided into pages reflecting various specialisms and topics. Updates from BMJ, JAMA, NEJM and The Lancet can be found under the General Interest tab. Other topic tabs include:
Information within the site has been colour coded to make it easier to navigate pages and access resources:
Green means an article is available to you anywhere via the internet using your Athens Login- just click on the article title to access.
Red signifies that the journal is available to you via Athens but access to current articles is delayed. Other methods of access will be indicated
Blue denotes that the title is not available through Athens, but subscribed to by the University. These articles can be accessed from within the Library only.
Pink links to selected ebooks, simply click on the title and login with your Athens to view.
Orange displays updates from Health organisations and other services.

Much of the information in Knowledge Update comes in the form of RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds. RSS Feeds allow data about new web content to be easily collated in one place, replacing the need to visit numerous websites to see whether they have been updated.
