Clinical Sciences

The Division of Clinical Sciences is made up of four areas of work

A large section of the division is concerned with clinical sciences however there is also a major basic sciences component, predominantly concerned with the investigation of atherosclerosis and other vascular/smooth muscle pathologies.

The division has strong links with St George’s Healthcare NHS Trust and with other clinical and basic academic divisions, both within and outside St George’s. With nearly 150 staff, both clinical and non clinical, our main aims are to carry out research and to contribute to teaching and clinical service development.

The division’s research programmes are well funded from peer review charities. Cardiovascular Sciences achieved a five years programme grant of over £1.5million from the British Heart Foundation (the "DARE" study). Other Key funders include Wellcome Trust, The Stroke Association, Medical Research Council (MRC), and the European Union (EU).
